Four days, hour by hour
Post-announcement timeline
3 August – 7 August 2026. Times UTC where a precise timestamp exists.
- Mon 3 Aug, 13:57 UTCAn announcement is published on Alxzondra's Instagram"With word rapidly spreading, I wanted to put out a formal statement. Joe Felz has left this earth and has finally found his free…" No cause named; a message from someone called Brandy is relayed.
This is the origin of the entire story, and this desk has never seen it. Instagram sits behind a login. What exists here is the text as quoted by TMZ, People and The Sun, and a timestamp decoded from the post ID. Partial - Mon 3 Aug, within hoursContent farms publish "suicide" — with no sourceobituarybreak.online (byline "Glenn Philips"), vancouvermemorial.site (byline "Admin", date in the URL slug), and at least eight others. Four days before any determination existed. That they published it is Verified. The claim itself, at the time, was Rumor.
- Tue 4 Aug, 03:20 UTCA second statement is publishedRejects "false narratives, assumptions, and speculation." Signed "-Alx". "I promise that, when the time is right, the truth will come. Right now is not that time." Same limitation: quoted by named outlets, not read here. Partial
- Tue 4 Aug, 12:31 PDTTMZ: "The cause and manner of death are unclear"The mainstream anchor. Sourced only to the Instagram post. People (Luke Chinman) and The Sun (Juliana Cruz Lima) publish the same day, same source. Verified
- Wed 5 Aug, 16:52El Observador publishes the immigration recordsByline Sergio Arce. The story that would have corrected the Costa Rica error — published in Spanish, in Costa Rica, and picked up by nobody. Verified
- Thu 6 AugA memorial page appears that the family did not makememoritree.com, "curated by the MemoriTree editorial team" — an auto-generated page selling tree plantings, sympathy flowers, and fundraiser services. Not family-affiliated. Alex Jones-adjacent sites and Perez Hilton amplify the same day. Partial
- Thu 6 Aug, 22:49 UTCfelzbooks.com archived — byte-identical to AprilZero diff against the 28 April capture. No memorial notice, no banner, no change. The price cards are still up — though nothing behind them works. Verified
- Thu 7 Aug, 13:07 PDTTMZ publishes a report of a GBI Medical Examiner determination"The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office tells TMZ… an autopsy determined… his manner of death was suicide." Updated 14:07.
Verified that TMZ published this. Partial that the determination was made — no document, and the GBI has said nothing publicly. - Thu 7 AugPeople publishes the same finding, attributed to the Paulding County Coroner's OfficeA second outlet naming a second office. It is not independent corroboration. Neither outlet published a document, neither office has issued anything, and two reporters can be told the same thing by the same source network — that is agreement, not verification.
Verified that People published this. Partial that any office determined it.
What his accounts did
Two posts, both by Alxzondra as collaborator posts distributed to his handles, and then nothing. No memorialisation, no bio changes, no funeral notice, no service announcement. His TikTok bio still reads "Entrepreneur, solar pro, world traveler, investor," in the present tense. His last YouTube upload sits where he left it on July 9.
His father, Dr. Michael Wayne Felz — a longtime Augusta physician and professor at the Medical College of Georgia — died on May 3, 2026, three months earlier. His obituary ran through Thomas Poteet & Son, the family's funeral home, and names four children: Daniel, Anna, Joe and Tim. As of today there is no funeral-home obituary for Joe, at that funeral home or anywhere else, and no entry on legacy.com. Thomas Poteet's index is current through August 6.
That absence is Verified and unexplained, and it is the kind of thing that invites over-reading. Four days is not long, arrangements are often private, and a death in another county does not route through an Augusta funeral home by default. It is recorded, not interpreted.
What paperwork exists, and which of it you were ever going to see
A great deal of the suspicion around this death rested on a single intuition: if he really died, where is the paperwork? It is a reasonable question and it has a boring answer, which is why it rarely gets one. Almost none of the paperwork generated by a death is public, and the parts that are take weeks to months.
Here is the actual inventory, for a U.S. citizen, under both jurisdictions that were in play in this story.
Death records reality-check
Who holds each record, how long it takes, and whether the public ever sees it.
| Record | Held by | Typical timeline | Ever public? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coroner's determinationGeorgia — the operative jurisdiction here | County coroner | Days to weeks | No — goes to next of kin |
| GBI Medical Examiner autopsyServes 153 of Georgia's 159 counties, at the coroner's request | GBI Division of Forensic Sciences | Weeks to months | No — released to the requesting coroner, who notifies family. Routine determinations are not announced. |
| Georgia death certificate | State vital records | Weeks | Restricted — family and authorised parties |
| GBI press release | GBI newsroom | Same day, when issued | Yes — but only for cases the GBI chooses to announce, not routine determinations |
| OIJ investigationCosta Rica — not applicable, he had left | Organismo de Investigación Judicial | 24–72 hours to public comment | Yes — usually, and quickly |
| Medicatura Forense autopsyCosta Rica | OIJ Departamento de Medicina Legal | "Several months," per the U.S. Embassy | No |
| Registro Civil registrationCosta Rica | Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones | ~8 business days from filing | Searchable — requires an affirmative lookup |
| Consular Report of Death Abroad | U.S. Embassy | After family submits DS-5501 | No — one sealed copy, to next of kin |
| State Dept. non-natural deaths list | travel.state.gov | Updated every 6 months | Aggregate only — country, date, cause. No names. |
At four days after a death, the absence of a public death certificate, autopsy report, or official announcement is exactly what the system produces — in Georgia and in Costa Rica alike. Not a single row in that table would have been public by August 7 under any circumstances. The silence people were reading as suppression was the ordinary operation of records law.
This is why the page treats the missing paperwork as unremarkable and the money as the real thread. Record absence at this stage cannot distinguish between any two theories. It has no discriminating power at all.
Who and what is actually connected
Network graph
Line weight is evidentiary strength, not closeness. Solid lines are documented; dashed lines are asserted but unconfirmed.
The Costa Rican judicial police appear here as a node with no edges. That is the corrected version of what this graphic was originally meant to show. It was built to display an official body that should have had a record and did not; what it actually shows is a body that was never in the picture, because he had left the country three months earlier.
The disappearance that wasn't, one year earlier
In July 2025, a close friend and collaborator of Felz went quiet, and the internet decided he had been taken.
Julian Brown — known online as NatureJab — is a young inventor from metro Atlanta who built a solar-powered pyrolysis reactor that converts plastic waste into a fuel he calls Plastoline. He and Felz made videos together; Felz posted one captioned "Jab + Joe + Jungle = Joy." After Felz died, Brown called him "my brother."
He was not a partner in Felz Investment Group. That claim circulates and it is wrong.
The Julian Brown episode, 2025
What happened, what was claimed, and what it earned.
- 14 Jun 2025Posts video of a helicopter he says repeatedly circled and spotlighted himVerified
- 25 Jun 2025Says he does not expect to "live long"
- 9 Jul 2025Final post before silence: "very, very odd stuff going on… I'm certainly under attack… keep me in your prayers"Then nothing, across every platform, for three weeks.
- ~28 Jul 2025The kidnapping narrative peaksA post claiming "the elites" had taken him drew roughly 2.6 million views. A "Where is Julian Brown" subreddit appeared. Big Oil was named as the suppressor. Rumor — none of it was true.
- 28–30 Jul 2025He was never missingAtlanta PD told Newsweek it was "not currently investigating any missing persons cases with that name." No report was ever filed. His mother said he was safe; he had been home the whole time. Verified
- 30 Jul 2025His crowdfunder roughly doubled during the panicStarted April 2025 with a $16,000 goal to fund his reactor. Passed $31,000 by 30 July, and $35,000+ per later coverage. IBTimes UK headlined it "GoFundMe Doubles Amid Kidnapping Claims — Hoax or Real?" and noted that every claim about threats came from Brown's own posts. Verified
- 30 Jul – 1 Aug 2025Returns, citing a hackSays hackers accessed his iCloud and Instagram and could "remotely watch and view my entire phone," and that he went silent on advice from a cybersecurity team. Verified that he said it.
That precedent is why the Felz story was primed to go the way it did. The same audience had watched a nearly identical narrative — a truth-teller silenced by powerful interests — run for three weeks a year earlier and resolve into nothing.
But the precedent cuts in a direction people expect it not to. Brown's behaviour since August 3 is the opposite of exploitation. He posted a grief tribute — "We've lost a great soul, and I've lost my brother" — and then a video asking people specifically not to speculate about how Felz died. He has launched no fundraiser, no product, no memorial merchandise. His site solicits only the standing support for his nonprofit that predated all of this.
One correction to the record while we are here: a claim circulates that Felz and Brown were together on 11 July 2026, testing fuel, which would place Felz in metro Atlanta days after his last post. It could not be corroborated — Unverified conf 2. The only verifiable joint fuel-testing video between them was uploaded in October 2025.
